It is expected that a new Troleybus route along the Engels Street and Lenin Street will be opened this year. A fourth sub station will be required. Currently there are three substations for this seven route system which has a total length of 44 kilometres.
The fleet consists of 57 vehicles has undergone a steady renewal during the past four years. The new vehicles are manufactured by JSC "Trans-Alfa” of Vologda and are type VMZ 5298-20. In all 13 of this type were delivered being numbered 73, 77, 79, 83, 85, 85, 87, 92, 107 to109 and 113 to 115. During 2007 and 2008 two further articulated Trolleybuses numbered 94 and 86 type VMZ 6215 were put into service. One of this type has been in service in Bratsk since 2003. These three vehicles and two ZIU-683 (6205) are in service, each with a driver and two conductors, on route 2.
During 2007 the first low floor Trolleybus went into service. It was a Trans-Alfa type 5298.01 with the fleet number 80. Unfortunately, on 20.11.2007, a short circuit caused a fire and the vehicle was severely damaged. Together with the manufacturer the vehicle was rebuilt and could be put back into service during May 2008.
