Santos [BR] - Historic trolleybus service?
J. Lehmann - 18.08.08
Inspired by the success of the city-centre heritage tramwy, which opened in 2000 city officials are proposing a heritage trolleybus service on the existing route (20), which connects with the tramway. In anticipatioon, restauratiuon has begun on the vehicle that would work the service, one of the Alfa-Romeo/Fiat trolleybuses of 1961/2, in the former CSTC depot, which remains ownes by the city.
This proposal has made no progress, and the work on the restoring has never been completed so far. The proposed operation of historic trolleybuses would have been in addition to the normal trolleybus operation on route 20. Since September 1995, this route has been the only trolleybus route running, served by only four duties. After the solitary Marcopolo trolleybus, 5301 of 1979, has been withdrawn in 2005 the six Mafersa vehides of 1987 now provide all the service.
