Hrodna/Grodno [BY] - Only a few Low-floor-trolleybuses
J. Lehmann - 01.09.08
Fifteen AKSM-20101, 84-98 were delivered in 2007. It is confirmed that 76-81 are also this model. A start has been madeon rebuilding olderZIU-682 trolleybuses locally. The work includes elocating electrical equipment to the roof. A temporary, but expected to be long-term, reorganisation of the System occurred on 16th January when the Stary Most was closed for reconstruction. Trolleybus routes which used this bridge were diverted over either the Novy Most or Rumlevsky Most, both of which also span the river Neman and carry other trolleybus routes. A new source of revenue for the undertaking is the hiring of trolleybuses for wedding ceremonies. There were two instances of this in November 2007.
A new trolleybus route (6) to the south-eastern suburbs of the city, via the Rumlevskiy river bridge, was openedon 01.03.2006. Trolleybuses delivered prior to 1993 are ZIU-682, of various modeis, numbered in the range 135-254. Subsequent to 1993, deliveries have been mainly from suppliers in Belarus with a new fleet numbering series commencing at 1. Of these, 51/2 are MAZ-103T, and 72-4 are AKSM-201.01.
