Zurich [CH] - Zurich welcomes the first of 17 double articulated trolleybuses

On August 16th the first firs of 17 double articulated trolleybuses was introduced by the local public transport operator VBZ: This new vehicle is almost 25 m long time and has been delivered by the HESS AG in Bellach (CH).The electrical equipment has been manufactured by VOSSLOH KIEPE Ltd in Düsseldorf (Germany). The price of one vehicle is CHF 1.70 million (less than 1.10 million EUR). Up to 200 passengers could ride comfortably with this bus. Public service will start at the beginning of September 2007 on route 31 (Hegibachplatz - Schlieren) and for once also on route 32 (Strassenverkehrsamt - Holzerhurd). Some platforms had to be prolveonged along the two routes to facilitate boarding and alighting by all five low floor doors.
