Mikolayiv/Nikolayev [UA] - More used trolleybuses from the Czech Republic

K. Budach - 15.02.16

As the City of Brno has recently received another batch of modern trolleybuses, several older type Skoda 14TrM and 14TrR units have been withdrawn and cascaded to Mikolayiv. Most recently, a total of 28 trolleybuses were transferred to the Ukrainian city, with an additional 14TrM unit being sent from Ostrava (ex Nr. 3253) to Mikolayiv. This latest lot of pre-used trolleybuses from the Czech Republic has allowed the Ukrainian city to withdraw its run-down and even older ZIU type trolleys from the 1980s. Aside from the cascaded Czech trolleys, which also include the former Plzen vehicles 449, 451, 452, 453, the Mikolayiv fleet still consists of 11 ZIU 682 V/G, 5 YMZ T2, 3 LAZ 52522 as well as 5 low-floor trolleybuses of the LAZ E183 type (built in 2007/08) and 6 MAZ-ETON T103 (built in 2012/13). A total of 6 different trolleybus lines (2, 4-7 and 9) are in service. After a brief introductory ceremony on 18 September 2015, the Czech trolleybuses were first deployed on line 9.

Specifically, the former Brno trolleys now running in Mikolayiv are:

3227, 3248, 3266 3220, 3262, 3263, 3258, 3264, 3242, 3234, 3251, 3238, 3219, 3226, 3253, 3233, 3252, 3221, 3224, 3214, 3215, 3237, 3229, 3230, 3222, 3217, 3235, 3255. As such they have been renumbered as 3012-3036 and 3038-3040.
