Guadalajara [MX] - Trials with new Skoda units, date for service relaunch still open
K. Budach - 30.09.15
As previously reported, services on both electric bus lines have been suspended since January 2015, while work has taken place to adapt the infrastructure for the next generation of modern vehicles. The series delivery of 26 low-floor trolleybuses is expected to commence shortly. These single units have been produced by the domestic bus builder Dina, with Skoda supplying all electric equipment. Czech experts are also on site to supervise the final assembly in Mexico. The contract was signed in early 2015 and is valued at 100 million CZK, which is roughly 3.7 million Euros.
The new Guadalajara trolleys will also be fitted with an auxiliary diesel motor. Despite of initial trials with the first Dina/Skoda units, a firm date for the resumption of revenue services has not yet been set.
