Dayton [US] - All four prototypes on trials

K. Budach - 16.09.15

All four of the "NexGen - Next Generation Electric Buses" have been used on trial services since spring 2015. Normally, they operate from Monday to Friday on the three regular lines 4, 7 and 8. The vehicles were delivered to Dayton between September 2014 and January 2015. They are the prototypes of a new series of trolleybuses, which will eventually replace all of the Skoda Electric units dating from the 1990s.

The producers of the “NexGen” trolleys are Vossloh Kiepe for the electrical equipment and Gillig for the bus bodies. Units 1401 and 1402 have been fitted with auxiliary diesel motors supplied by BAE, while 1403 and 1404 have battery packs for off-wire operations.
