Chita/Tschita [RU] - Route extension still planned
J. Lehmann - 24.08.15
In February 2015, two more Optima trolleys entered revenue service. These Trolza-built units have been numbered as 288 and 289. Presently, the fleet in Chita consists of 93 trolleybuses, while the number of old vehicles dating from 1990-1994 has been reduced to less than 30 vehicles. Almost all of these are ZiU 682s. The citys 73.15 km long trolleybus network still features 5 different lines (1, 2, 3, 5 und 6) and during the next 3 years an extension to the new residential neighborhood KEK is planned. As the municipal authorities expect significant funding from the federal government, only a 10-20% contribution has been earmarked from the local budget. Total project costs are presently estimated between 300 and 500 million rubles.
