Parma [IT] - 10th ExquiCity enters service
J. Lehmann - 20.04.15
In late 2014, the 10th trolleybus of the VanHool ExquiCity type entered regular service in Parma, numbered as 5110. This bus was initially built as the series prototype but was later adapted to feature the same specs as the subsequently delivered units. For the 8 different service diagrams on trolleybus line 5, a total of 10 ExquiCity buses are now available.
Because the power lines have not yet been mounted at the new balloon loop at the railway station terminus, diesel buses are still used on line 1. The new catenary posts and cantilever frames have already been installed, but merely the electrical wires are still missing. The previously fitted, temporary balloon loop has already been disassembled. The autobuses have thus been serving the renewed railway station terminal since September 2014.
On the other two urban trolleybus lines 3 and 4, 14 single units of the MAN/Autodromo type are sufficient, thus making the older Meranini trolleys from 1986 superfluous.
