Bern [CH] - Additional extension of trolleybus line 11 decided
J. Lehmann - 26.01.15
Starting in December 2015, regular services will commence on the new extension of the local trolleybus line 11. 10 months before that milestone, the Bern city council has now already approved an additional extension of the line as far as Warmbächliweg. Presently, a new settlement with up to 250 apartments is being constructed there, on the former site of a waste incinerator. As of the timetable change in December 2015, line 11 will serve the Insel hospital campus and run over the Freiburgstrasse. Up to three new bus stops will be introduced, in order to better serve the citys largest health care complex. Road works have now already started on the Insel extension while the installation of the catenary is expected to commence in the summer. The 400 m long route addition to Warmbächliweg still needs to complete the detailed planning process and construction work is expected to start by summer 2017.
