Ancona [IT] - Six AnsaldoBreda F22 finally in service!
J. Lehmann - 02.02.15
On 15 December 2014, five of the six F22 trolleys originally produced by AnsaldoBreda were presented at the Monumento ai Caduti near the terminus of the local trolleybus line 1/4. The Italian company Mandolini has overhauled these single units, which were originally built in 2002 for the French city Nancy, but due to technical difficulties never entered service there. In early 2011 they were returned to the manufacturer and after a lengthy modification and re-certification process finally launched in Ancona as vehicles 013-018. Coinciding with the presentation of the F22s, one of three new Solaris Trollino 18 was also on display.
The event ended with a presentation run to the railway station, for which Nr. 013 was used. All nine of these new trolleybus additions to the Ancona fleet are low-floor and feature an auxiliary diesel drive for operations off the wires.
