Genève [CH] - Delivery of 33 ExquiCity nearly complete
J. Lehmann - 01.12.14
During autumn, the squadron delivery of 33 ExquiCity trolleybuses has really hit its stride. Following on the 8 units that were already in the city as of August, 20 more were supplied by Van Hool by late November. The remaining 5 are expected to arrive until the end of the year, just as originally foreseen.
In the mean time, the entire series of older S.33 trolleys (Saurer/Hess/SAAS, 1982/83, 663-674) has been withdrawn. Of the slightly younger S.34 type (NAW/Hess,Lb,R&J/SAAS, 1987/88, 681-700) only 5 buses (684, 686, 687, 688, 695) remain in active use, although their withdrawal is already planned to coincide with the arrival of the last 5 ExquiCity. At that point, all trolleybus services in Geneva will feature modern low-floor vehicles. No significant operational changes are expected as part of the upcoming timetable change in mid December. The scenic route 36 through the historic old town will be served by battery buses.

On 15 September 2014, ExquiCity 1604 is seen in public service. As only 6 such new buses were dispatched that day, a number of the older Saurer/Hess trolleys were also out and about, like 674 on line 3 at Bel-Air. Photos: J. Lehmann
