Vidnoye [RU] - A new trolleybus type for Russia
J. Lehmann - 07.07.14
Recently, the City of Vidnoye, which is located on the southeastern periphery of Moscow, received the latest type of Russian trolleybus. The vehicle has been supplied by ZAO Transmashholding (TMH), which is one of the largest industrial conglomerates in Russia and a major producer of locomotives, freight and passenger rolling stock, utility vehicles as well as ship engines. The coach body of the new trolleybus is based on the Ukrainian T701 type, originally designed by the Bogdan Group. Indeed this trolleybus model is now jointly produced, with some parts initially being manufactured by Bogdan in Ukraine and final assembly then taking place at TMH facilities in Russia. The first bus has received the Russian classification TMG-7207 Comfort. In Vidnoye this unit now runs as Nr. 26. TMH and Bogdan generally expect significant demand for new trolleybuses on the Russian market, as generous government subsidies worth 3.5 billion rubles annually are available to support public procurement in numerous cities. This funding scheme was just recently extended and will continue until 2016.
