Szeged [HU] - Trolleybus Route 10 Commences 20th December 2013
J. Lehmann - 30.09.13
An official opening date for trolleybus route 10 has now been announced. This will take place on 20 December at 15:58 and trolleybuses will then take up service between Tarjan, Víztorony tér and Klinikák (clinics) replacing the previous bus route 10. The overhead line was installed three years ago, but due to lack of vehicles and continuing negotiations with the operator, Szeged Tisza Volánbusz Zrt, the opening was further delayed.
Meanwhile, the first Ikarus / Skoda articulated trolleybus has begun its trials. The new low-floor trolleybus is 18.75 m long, 2.55 m wide, and has a capacity for 124 persons (5 persons/m2). The passenger compartment, which has 37 seats, is fully air conditioned. The motor delivers 248 kW, and using a lithium-ion battery pack it can travel about 7 km without overhead . By December, three of the 13 low-floor trolleybuses ordered should be in operation.
