Szeged [HU] - First New Ikarus/Skoda Articulated Trolleybus Arrives

On 31.07.2013 a low loader arrived with the first Ikarus/Skoda articulated trolleybus. This model is classified as Ikarus-Škoda Tr187.2. Magyar Autóbusz Kft, now holds the naming rights for the legendary "Ikarus" buses, delivered the body in May 2013 to Plzen for Škoda Electric to complete it with electrical equipment. The low-floor articulated vehicles 18.75 meters long, 2.55 meters wide and are equipped with air conditioning for the driver's seat and the passenger compartment. Each vehicle costs around 228 million forints (around € 760,000) 12 more units will arrive in the next few months.

The vehicle is expected to receive fleet number T-670. After trial runs, which begin this week, the vehicle is expected to enter service in October of 2013.

During the past year the number of Škoda 15Tr-articulated cars has beeen increased to 27 units by four- two from Teplice and two from Ceske Budejovice.
Since the beginning 2013, the frequencies on all routes have been reduced. From the timetable change in December 2013, the existing bus r 10, which is currently served by the bus operation Tiszavolan will be converted to trolleybus using the new vehicles.
