Landskrona [SE] - First Test-Runs in Pilsen
K. Budach - 22.07.13
The fifth trolleybus ordered for the small system in Landskrona has completed its first test runs on the Plzen network in the Czech Republic. The new Solaris Trollino12 trolleybus with electrical equipment by koda Electric has a strong battery auxiliary drive so that it can be used on two bus routes in Landskrona, which are only partially congruent with the overhead line network. After every run on one of these two routes (4 and 5), the trolleybus then runs a trip on the pure trolleybus route 3 to recharge its batteries with power from the overhead line. This is a research project of Skånetrafiken together with the Volvo Company, Eon and the University of Lund, which is financed by 6.0 million Euros of EU funds. The project will commence in Landskrona on first September 2013. Researchers in physics, mathematics, electrical engineering and logistics of the University of Lund will accompany the project.
After three years, the vehicle will then be formally incorporated into the Landskrona fleet.
The vehicle has left a very good impression in Plzen. After further testing it will be transferred to Sweden and will be commissioned on-site by August 2013. At that point the program for the 10th anniversary of the trolleybus in Landskrona, which is planned for the last weekend in September, will be announced.
The summer timetable operates from 2 June to 17 August 2013. While the bus routes have reduced frequencies e.g. routes 1 and 2 run every 20 minutes instead of every 15 minutes, the trolleybus route 3 remains at high frequency and even during the summer months runs at 6-minute intervals during peak periods.
