On 24/07/2013 members of the City Council approved three loans for major projects. In addition to the construction of a bridge and a bypass road, the procurement of 92 trolleybuses was granted 200 million hryvnas (about 18.4 million euros). In addition to this grant, a contribution by the State is expected for the acquisition of the trolleybuses.
Around 100 operable trolleybuses are currently available for the 17 trolleybus routes. Their numbers have declined in the last three years by phasing out several ZiU 682s built between 1987 and 1992, of which only about 30 are now in stock. The fleet still has six ZiU- 683 articulated vehicles (of which only two operational) and seven articulated vehicles from domestic production of type T1 YMZ, 54 of these units were acquired between 1992 and 1995 but in the meantime 46 of these turned into standard 12m vehicles. Nearly 50 standard YMZ T2 trolleybuses were acquired between 1993 and 2008.
The number of routes has been increased to 17 by the introduction of route 8. The route runs with route 5 on the Ave. Kirov and then further south alongside route 9. Included in the 17 routes are also the circular routes A and B. The modernization of the tram fleet has been made possible through the purchase of 30 cars from Berlin. Approximately 250 trams are available or the 14 tram routes.
