San Francisco [US] - Joint Option with Seattle for Articulated Vehicles

The San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency (SFMTA) is participating in the recent procurement process led by Metro Seattle, which announced orders for 141 trolley buses. SFMTA is taking a part of the agreed option for articulated trolleybuses with a total of 60 units. If the option is redeemed it runs until 2017- it will lead to an increase in the fleet of articulated trolleybuses in San Francisco, as they will be replacing the remaining 39 high-floor articulated trolleybuses from 1994.
The new vehicles will be continuous low floor, manufacturered by New Flyer Industries with electrical equipment from Vossloh-Kiepe. The contract value including a maintenance component, spare parts and training and training is USD 98.7 million, it was estimated up to USD 105.1 million.
