Pardubice [CZ] - Trolleybuses once again fully operational
J. Lehmann - 05.12.06
Due to road works on the Dasicka street (route 1) and maintenance work on the Elbe bridge (routes 3, 4 and 11) between 25.03.2006 and 31.10.2006. The Trolleybus operation was replaced partly by diesel buses and partly served by diversionary routing of the trolleybuses. Route 3 has now been redirected to its original route and as of 01.11.2006 once again serves the bus stop Masaryknvo nam close to the city centre. At teh same time a new route, route 33, was introduced which runs, between 08:00 and 15:00 hours as far as UMA, parallel to route 3 thus increasing the frequency along this stretch. This has enabled the headway on Route 3 to be reduced from 24 minutes to 30 minutes.
During the rush hour, which is between 08:00 and 15:00, routes 1, 5 and 13 have had, till now, a 10-minute headway. This is to be reduced to a 15-minute frequency. Route 2 has a 15-minute headway all day. Routes 4 and 7 run every 30 minutes and route 27 hourly. Route 11 is only operated during the rush hour period. In order to maintain this service 55 solo Trolleybuses are available. Five vehicles have now been refurbished in Pilzen. These are the vehicles 341, 342, 345, 346 and 347. A further three are to be refurbished during the year 2007 followed by two more in 2008. During the year 2006 five vehicles were taken out of service, 307, 308, 314, 337 and 344 and they are to be sold together with trolleybus no. 339 which was taken out of service in April 2005. In April 2006 18 new low floor Skoda 24 Tr were delivered and a further three are to follow during 2007.
The photograph, taken on 09.10.2006 by Martin Janda, is of Trolleybus 319 at the turning circle of route 1.
